LOGIC PROBLEM #1 - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
The logic problem workshop is now posted. Find it on the left column of the blog.
LOGIC PROBLEM #1 - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
The Kemper Family has game night every Saturday night. This week they each hosted a game with one of the other four family members (two of which - Chari and Janice - are women and three of which - Destiny, Matt and Rex - are men) as a guest. They each hosted a different game (one was “Clue”) and then played another game as a guest. In addition, each game was played a different number of times (1 thru 5). From the information provided, can you determine each family members guest, the game they played, and how many times they played.
1. Chari’s guest had more letters in their name than Chari. Rex either hosted the game that was played 1 time or he was guest at the game that was played 1 time.
2. Destiny (who’s guest was a man) hosted the game that was played exactly one less time than the pair that played Sorry, but exactly two more times the pair that Janice was a guest in.
3. Matt did not play Scrabble as host or as a guest. Rex was a guest for Sorry. Matt hosted Janice.
4. Clue was played 4 times. Chari hosted Monopoly.

Soon to Come...
Soon to come to Princess Pencil Puzzle is a helpful page on Grid Logic Problems. This page will include in depth tips and tricks on how to solve Logic Problems more efficiently. It is currently in the works and will not be added to the blog until it is completely finished. If you are planning to work some Logic Puzzles with the help of my strategies though, you might want to go out and get a book of Logic Problems so that you can stretch your mind and work puzzles other than the ones I post. I suggest Penny Press Original Logic Problems magazine. This magazine can be subscribed to online at Penny Press Original Logic Problems or you can find an issue at Target, Walmart, or at any book store.

SHIKAKU #1 - INTERMEDIATE LEVEL
Shikaku is a simple pencil puzzle which uses logic with a little bit of geometry knowledge. I made the following Shikaku puzzle for those of you that enjoy a quick brain workout without having to spend hours on one puzzle. This puzzle is easily worked by saving the picture file and opening it with the paint program.
See the rules for Shikaku on the "Rules" page link to the left of the blog. And find a small hint on the "Pencil Puzzle Help" page.

Princess Pencil Puzzle and a Smart Phone
My phone pretty much bit the dust a couple of months ago. Only able to talk on the thing for 5 minutes at a time and sometimes turning off the phone completely when I ended a call, I knew that I needed a new one. I had that phone for about 5 years as it was.
I was convinced that I didn't need a phone with 3g or 4g network and apps since I had internet at home and other devices to entertain me such as a Kindle, a laptop, and an Ipod. All I needed was a phone with texting. I did not want to be attached at the hip (literally) to a phone like everyone around me seemed to be. They call it a "crackberry" for a reason. It's takes all I can do to get my husband not to look at his Blackberry and pay attention to me during a half hour dinner.
When I got to the Verizon store, the sales associate informed me that all of the phones had some kind of net access and that all the phones were moving to the smart phone app based technology. Therefore, I had no choice but to get a phone that had more than talk and text. Bummer... then my thinking is if I'm going to do it, I better go all out. Thus the life changing purchase of the Droid Incredible!
Of course the first app I look for is a logic pencil puzzle based app. And I had settled on "Slice It!", a game where you split the shapes into smaller parts within a certain amount of slices.
